Make sure to use FTP (File Transfer Protocol). The next sections of this tutorial will teach you how to execute jobs on the cluster, using Stata as an example. You can create folders and rearrange files directly in Cyberduck (in addition to using a Command Line Interface).Ĭyberduck thus allows you to load datasets onto the cluster for processing, and to transfer outputs of your code (e.g., graphs and tables) back to your local computer. Note that Cyberduck functions like a Finder/Windows Explorer application for the cluster.

Drag and drop in the reverse direction to move files from the cluster to your computer. To transfer files from your local computer to the cluster, drag them from Finder or Windows Explorer and drop them in the Cyberduck window. If the connection was successful, you should see your file directories on the cluster: (To connect to Hotfoot, type "." instead.) Type 22 in Port, your UNI (lower case) in Username, and your UNI password (case sensitive) in Password:Ĭlick "Connect". To connect to Yeti, type in "." in Server. In the first dropdown box, select "SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol)": Open Cyberduck, and click on "Open Connection" (or go to File->Open Connection): To continue with this tutorial, download and install Cyberduck for Mac or Windows.

Once you are comfortable using a command line, you can instead use rsync and unison to transfer files these programs also allow for easy backup of cluster files. These programs function similarly to Cyberduck you will hopefully be able to figure them out given the instructions below.

This description uses a very simple FTP called Cyberduck, but there are numerous other free options including Filezilla and WinSCP (Windows only). To do this, you'll need a program called an FTP client. This section describes how to transfer files between your local computer and the cluster.
